Press release from FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Cavus.
Venerable Western Thrace Turks, As we all know on the evening of 15th July in motherland Turkey, there was a coup attempt by FETO terror organisation members. This was suppressed by the democracy believing patriotic heroes and military of the Turkish nation. 8 participants of the coup attempt fled to Greece. As a minority we condemned the coup attempted and went to Alexandroupoli for the return of these traitors. At the same time the return of these 8 people was formally asked for by Turkey and the situations of these are being examined by relevant authorities. The process is eagerly awaited for those who believe in democracy, like us. During this time, some local and national press without naming the real FETO terror organisation members in the Western Thrace Turkish Minority instead attributed minority right activists of being a FETO terror organisation member, this trying to create a brazenly perception. The intention of this perception is to harm those defending the rights of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority whilst excluding them from the public and leaving them under inculpation with imaginary relationships. This futile effort is in vain. Our people are aware of the truth very clearly. From time to time my name has been used and false relationships and networks attempting to be established through false news, I state that those with dirty intentions will never succeed. Moreover, I share with the public I shall launch legal action against those publishing false news on this issue. If those newspapers and journalists rather than create false news showed an effort to uncover and eliminate the injustices faced by the Western Thrace Minority, our minority would be living much happier lives today. For instance, why are minority members, owners of ancestry foundations not entitled to their management? Effort could be spent for its solutions. For instance, it could be queried as to why there is only one minority secondary and high school in the Rhodopi province, despite the population being around half. They could conduce to opening schools needed by the minority. For instance, why has the number of minority public servants not exceeding single figures been brought to the public domain? At least they could have prevented our young people from unwillingly leaving their parental home. For instance, they could have pushed as to why the FEP Party headquarters was attacked and our late leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s car stolen. We are sure their work would have been much more useful. For instance, it could be questioned as why the 3% anti democratic electoral threshold being applied to independent candidates. Our country would have been spared the political shame which is not present is any other democratic country in the world. For instance, efforts could be shown for the solution of the issue of Muftis, education and the closing of historic associations, we are sure their work would be more useful on behalf of our community. And we would be proud of objective reporting newspapers in our country. It is the responsibility of journalists to objectively and accurately expose injustices and inform the public. We have difficulty in understanding the lost energy with false news. I also find it very meaningful that they refrain from exposing the names of the real FETO terror organisation members, which I believe they know very well. I greet all of you with respect. Best regards, Mustafa Ali Cavus President FEP Party Share
