The President was accompanied by Acting President Ahmet Kara, Secretary General Aydin Ahmet, Vice Presidents Bekir Mustafaoglu, Ramadan Duban, Burhan Hasan and Erdi Serif, CEC Members Huseyin Yoluc, Huseyin Haci Mehmet, Irfan Osman, Mehmet Ali Aga,Necat Ahmet, Ali Salihoglu, Omer Muzafferoglu and Xanthi Plain Region representatives.

President Mustafa Ali Cavus began his speech by thanking and greeting the participants, he emphasised the economic conditions of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority and stated‘minority youth still without a chance in the public sector are leaving the region. It would be useful for the government to urgently take just steps on this matter. Otherwise within ten years the minority will be severely wounded, I underline the need for all administrators and politicians to make an urgent effort in this regard.

Again, nine minority schools have been closed unjustly, as the closing of minority schools in contrary to the status in the Treaty of Lausanne. Therefore, it is necessary that action is taken on this matter and thus I invite all those elected to begin a joint hunger strike. Education is vital for the minority and with each passing day the situation is worsening.

Local and national newspapers and journalists are in search of people from Western Thrace that are part of the FETO terror organisation and are in a futile effort when labelling all minority rights activitists with the terror organisation. They are trying to create a perception without pointing to the real FETO terror organisation members. Our people will not respect such false claims as they well know all the facts.

We continue our struggle inherited by late leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet, we will continue working until the rights arising from the Lausanne Treaty our given to Western Thrace Muslim Turks with the principle ‘rights are not given but taken.’

The President ended his speech by thanking Arriana Mayor Ridvan Ahmet and all the team for continuing and passing on historic events such as the Alantepe Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events. He also wished success to the oil wrestling and wished everyone a happy Eid.
