FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Cavus Visits Ottoman Monuments in Veria and Giannitsa

On 12th – 13th September 2016, the 1st and 2nd Eid al-adha, Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party President Mustafa Ali Cavus visited Ottoman monument in Veria and Giannitsa.
President Mustafa Ali Cavus visited the Gazi Evrenos mausoleum in Yenice –i Vardar known as Giannitsa city and prayed there. The mausoleum was built in a Seljuk style and has been newly restored. After visiting the mausoleum, the President visited the clock tower in the town and Iskender Bey mosque which was built in the 16th century. The dilapidated state of Iskender Bey Mosque drew the attention of the President. The following day, President Mustafa Ali Cavus visited the city of Veria, here he firstly visited Karaferya Hudavendigar Mosque, also known as Cuma Mosque, which is mentioned in Evliya Celebi’s memoirs. Later, he visited Eminzade Ahmet Aga Mosque, also referred to as Medrese Mosque. The President witnessed the mosque restored and with its minaret standing tall being used a cultural centre and meeting room. The historic schools right next to it is still in service. The next stop was a visit to Ardindan Alacahamami and Celebi Sinan Bey Mosque, here the President was shocked by the dilapidation and weed covering the buildings. Following the visit, President Mustafa Ali Cavus stated his observations about the deplorable state of the Ottoman monuments, which should be restored, open for worship and for them to make a contribution to tourism. During the visits, President Mustafa Ali Cavus was accompanied by FEP Party Secretary General Aydin Ahmet. Share
