Delegation from Europe Visits FEP Party Headquarters

Under the guidance of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), a delegation paid a visit to Western Thrace to observe the problems of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority and on Wednesday 21st September visited the FEP Party Headquarters.
The delegation consisting of ABTTF Vice President Mehmet Huseyin, Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation (UNPO) Secretary General Marino Busdachin, European Free Alliance (EFA) Vice President and Centre Maurits Coppietters (CMC) Board Member Muquel Martinez Tomey , Greek Helsinki Watch Committee founder and spokesman Panayotis Dimitras, ABTTF Central Office Supervisor Engin Soyyilmaz and ABTTF International and Lobby Group Member Ali Ali Cavus were welcomed at the FEP Party Headquarters by FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Cavus, Acting President Ahmet Kara, Vice Presidents Ozan Ahmetoglu, Leyla Salihoglu, Ramadan Duban, Bekir Mustafaoglu, Refika Mehmet Adem, Mutlu Osman Mustafa and Erdi Serif, Secretary General Aydin Ahmet, Board Members Yesim Hasan and Ayse Ibrahim, Women’s Branch President Duygu Mustafa, Youth Branch President Murat Ahmet and Public Relations Unit member Ismail Salih.
During the meeting held at the FEP Party headquarters, problems of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority were communicated. Greece’s minority policy was discussed and the need for the policy to change immediately was emphasised. It was stressed that they Western Thrace Turkish Minority has never given up on law and democracy but that decision regarding minority rights given by the European Court of Human Rights have not been applied. The reluctance of the Greek State to address minority problems was stated. Also during the meeting with the delegation from Europe, the undemocratic 3% electoral threshold for political parties and independent MP candidates was addressed in addition to communicating media news and comments made by represented party leaders in parliament during the latest electoral law and how the Western Thrace Turkish Minority is being reflected as a threat and danger. Furthermore, current issues concerning the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority were also discussed. Share
