President Mustafa Ali Cavus during the demonstration gave an interview to the press and stated that since 2010, 57 minority schools have closed on the pretext that there is a lack of students and in violation of the Lausanne Treaty, as a minority we do not accept their closure. He also underlined that the status of minority schools are different and thus this needs to be taken into consideration. Merging schools has contributed nothing to minority education, on the contrary it has brought many problems, and therefore cancellation of the decision to close schools would be the healthiest conclusion. Despite, not being invited to Rhodopi – Evros EPATH Graduates’ Association general congress held on 24th September, President Mustafa Ali Cavus expressed that as the FEP Party the fully support the demonstration for parents, children and minority schools.

At the end of the demonstration, organisers of the demonstration, representatives of institutions and FEP Party Vice President Ozan Ahmetoglu attended the meeting with Province Education Director Panayotis Keramaris. During the meeting, Ahmetoglu stated that minority education has a different status, that minority schools cannot be closed without the opinion of school committees and that the state needs to give up its impassive attitude towards minority education.
