3rd European Working Group of Turkic Minorities Takes Place in Berlin

The 4rd annual meeting of FUEN’s Working Group of Turkic Minorities (TAG) took place in Germany’s capital Berlin at the Interior Ministry’s supplementary building conference hall on 16th November 2016.
The meeting was attending on behalf of the FEP Party by Vice President Raif Usta.
FUEN Vice President Halit Habipoglu greeted the participants by making the opening speech ‘It is a pleasure to see you here. It is an important step for the participants to address the problems their communities are experiencing in their countries.’ In the first session, the participants explained and evaluated the developments in their minorities/ communities over the past year. FEP Party Vice President Raif Usta who spoke at the meeting stated that all the problems the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority faced in 2016 increased in terms of number and attribute, thus the problems pending for years were not being resolved but new problems added and the acquired rights under protection were being suppressed and ignored. Raif Usta also informed FUEN President Lorant Vince and the other participants about the injustices faced in the field of freedom of religion, right of political representation, denial of ethnic identity and hate crimes. In the second session, FUEN TAG minorities/ communities and Turks in the Balkan countries presented the problems of learning their mother tongue and education in their mother tongue. They also shared the works by institutions relating to protecting and educating in the mother tongue. In the third session, after informing and evaluating the functioning of FUEN TAG and its outreach activities, FUEN TAG’s board was approved in accordance with FUEN 2016 Congress in which amendments were made to the regulations. FUEN TAG’s participants visited Berlin’s historic and touristic places and the German Bundestag. Share
