Press Release from FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Cavus
Distinguished Minority Members,
Following a report to the police, two unlicensed guns, a silencer and bullets, were found in a bag, place by unknown people, by police and a prosecutor at the minaret in Iliopetra village, in the province of Xanthi. Following the incident, the village’s Imam Sabri Emin Kahya was arrested on 28th March. On 29th March, he was released from court due to insufficient evidence. Firstly, I share my sympathies with Iliopetra Imam Sabri Emin Kayha. Until today, no Western Thrace Muslim Turk has been involved in violence. Our people have been against violence and terror of all sorts, thus such unfounded accusations against our people, especially against an imam is an attempt to create a perception which leaves our religion under imputation and something that will not be accepted by us. We expect our State, to find those who are trying to disrupt the minority with their dirty assets to promptly enlighten this dark game. While the recent fire at Celebi Sultan Mehmet Mosque, which hurt our hearts, has still not been enlightened, such dark games upon minority people does not fit any logic or mind. This attempt of denigration against the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, known as the quietest minority in the world will end up rebounding. Regards, Mustafa Ali Cavus FEP Party President Share
