Late Leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet Commemorated with Respect, Longing and Gratitude

The Western Thrace Turks unforgettable leader and founder of the Friendship Equality Peace Party Dr. Sadik Ahmet with great participation by the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish community was commemorated with respect, longing and gratitude on Monday 24th July.
A commemoration ceremony jointly organised by the FEP Party and Sadik Ahmet family was held at late Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s grave.

The event presented by FEP Party CEC Member Mustafa Sargo began with Sala and Asr-i Sharif by Ismail Ahmet and Ahmet Arif, followed by a prayer by BTTADK Chairman and Komotini Elected Muftu Ibrahim Serif and then protocol speeches. Firstly, FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Çavuş took the floor and thanked all the participants for their participation in the ceremony. President Mustafa Ali Cavus commemorated with mercy late leader Dr. Sadık Ahmet. He also stated that they have taken ownership of Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s struggle and work relentlessly to take forward his case with his principles. Despite 22 years after his death, his inexorable struggle with his thoughts for rights lives in our hearts and memories. Also at the event speeches were made by Musa Yurt on behalf of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association, Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe President Halit Habipoglu, Yorgos Papadakis representing the Macedonian Minority Rainbow Party in Greece, Muslim Association of Greece President Naim Elgandur, Turkish National Movement in Macedonia President Erdogan Sarac, Bulgaria’s DOST Party Vice President Mehmet Hoca, Edirne Governor Gunay Ozdemir, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities Deputy President Sait Yusuf, on behalf of the Felicity Party Vice President Mustafa Iris, Great Unity Party President Mustafa Destici, Kirklareli MP Turabi Kayan on behalf of the Republican People’s Party, Manisa MP Selcuk Ozdag on behalf of the Justice and Development Party, Vice President Natalia Pinkowska on behalf of EFA, Republic of Turkey Komotini Consul General Ali Riza Akinci, on behalf of the Republic of Turkey Government Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz and Isik Sadik Ahmet on behalf of the family made a thank you speech. In the speeches, late leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s love for the struggle, his ideas, his responsibility towards his people and his immortality was underlined. Also it was noted that such people are never forgotten and line in the hearts of people. Lastly, late leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s wife and FEP Party Honorary President Isik Sadik Ahmet made a speech. In her speech Isik Sadik Ahmet addressing Dr. Sadik Ahmet said ‘we will not be here but Sadik Ahmet will always be here. Leaders are one of the most important elements that make up communities. We will all die, but you will not die. Maybe nobody will remember us but you will always be remembered. You were the voice of the Muslim Turkish Minority seeking their rights from the Treaty of Lausanne signed on 24th July. Look how much you are loved, how beautifully you are remembered and commemorated.’ She ended by thanking all the participants. Following the prayers and speeches at the grave, a Mawlid –i Sharif was read and dinner served to participants at the FEP Party Headquarters. After the Mawlid- i Sharif, President Mustafa Ali Cavus, late leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s son Levent Sadik Ahmet, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities Deputy President Sait Yusuf, Macedonian Minority Rainbow Party Representative Yorgos Papadakis, Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association President Ercan Ahmet and Arriana Mayor Ridvan Ahmet attended the 9th Dr. Sadik Ahmet Tournament’s final match. The Young Academics Community (YAC) active under the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association organised the 9th 9th Dr. Sadik Ahmet Tournament’s final match at Fillira football stadium between YAC Serres and YAC Komotini. The winning team was YAC Serres. President Mustafa Ali Cavus, late leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s son Levent Sadik Ahmet, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities Deputy President Sait Yusuf, Macedonian Minority Rainbow Party Representative Yorgos Papadakis, Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association President Ercan Ahmet and Arriana Mayor Ridvan Ahmet presented the champion team with their cup and the players with their medals.
