FEP PARTY ORDINARY CONGRESS HAS BEEN ORGANISED

The 5th Ordinary General Congress of the FEP Party took place on Saturday (January 5th) at the FEP Party Headquarters. Çiğdem Asafoğlu, the only candidate in the congress that took place in the party's headquarters, was elected as the new president of FEP Party.
Congress began with the election of the council chairman. Mehmet Emin elected as chairman and Merve Ali and Özcan Aliosman as secretaries of the council board. After this election, the congress kept minute of silence first in the memory of the founder of FEP Party Dr. Sadık Ahmet and in the memory of party’s founding members and common cause friends who passed away. Later, a slide show was presented for telling the activities of the FEP Party during the period of Mustafa Ali Çavuş. Following the presentation, protocol speeches were started. First of all, FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Çavuş thanked for everyone who supported him during his nine-year term of office and added underlining that he has infinite support for Çiğdem Asafoğlu who received the flag from him and all her common cause friends who are going to serve under her presidency. Continuing the protocol speeches, FEP Party Honorary President Işık Sadık Ahmet emphasized the importance of the FEP Party and stated that Sadık Ahmet's family stands always by the Party and that so they will continue to give all kinds of support to the new president and his administration.
After Mustafa Ali Çavuş and Işık Sadık Ahmet, Mayor of Iasmos İsmet Kadı, Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB) President Necat Ahmet, Xanthi Turkish Union (İTB) President Ozan Ahmetoğlu and Western Thrace Turkish Teachers Union (BTTÖB) President Aydın Ahmet, Tobacco Cooperative President Hüseyin Esat gave a speech and wished success to the new President and the new Board of Directors to be elected. Subsequently FEP Party Presidential candidate Çiğdem Asafoğlu made her speech and mentioned the following briefly: I wish Allah’s mercy first on our founder leader late Dr. Sadık Ahmet and on all our common cause friends who passed away and wish wellness to those still here. Once again I yearningly and gratefully mention about them. As you know, the FEP Party is a cause party. It has a mission to shout out the injustices of our minority, to publicize them to the world and to organize minority people against injustices and to keep our reflexes alive against the injustices. In order to fulfill this historic mission on this issue together with our people in solidarity, today I share with you that I am the candidate of the Presidency to take this sacred flag and our cause. First of all, I would like to express my gratitude and thank to President Mustafa Ali Çavuş, who has made a great effort to revitalize and enlarge the FEP Party since 2010. I am deeply aware of this heavy responsibility. I believe that I will overcome this responsibility by working harder with my friends who will shoulder with me this cause and most importantly with the support of our people. I would like to thank all of you for your kindness and sincere feelings that you will show to me and my friends here today. Thank you.” Finally, the voting process was started to determine the new President and the Central Executive Committee members of the FEP Party. As the result of voting, the new President of FEP Party, Çiğdem Asafoğlu, the only candidate, received the flag from Mustafa Ali Çavuş taking 302 votes. As the FEP Party we offer our endless thanks firstly to our President Mustafa Ali Çavuş who served 8 years and has achieved numerous successes, for his services he provided and for his support until the last moment and we sincerely hope that these successes of him will continue. Also we thank our Honorary President Miss Işık Sadık Ahmet, and our late leader Dr. Sadık Ahmet’s son Levent Sadık Ahmet and generally whole the Sadık Ahmet family, for their endless support. Lastly, we would like to thank the representatives of all valuable local governments, Presidents and Directors of non-governmental organizations and to the members of FEP Party who participated in the ordinary congress of the FEP Party despite the bad weather conditions.
