FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Cavus met with MEP Dr. Tatjana Zdanoka and voiced the problems of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority.
Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party President Mustafa Ali Cavus met with EFA and Greens Groups’ Republic of Latvia MP Dr. Tatjana Zdanoka in the European Parliament. During the meeting the President was accompanied by EFA Head of Communications Jorgos Papadakis, FEP Party Acting President Ahmet Kara and Secretary General Aydin Ahmet.
President Mustafa Ali Cavus communicated to MEP Dr. Tatjana Zdanoka the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, its problems and the FEP Party. Mainly, the minority’s problems in the field of education were voiced. Closure of minority schools, regardless of the autonomous educational rights achieved in the Lausanne Treaty, negative responses to the minority’s request for bilingual Greek – Turkish kindergartens, ignoring the minority’s demand for minority secondary and highs cools, which are insufficient and not responding to better quality education requests from the minority were among some of the issues discussed. EFA Head of Communications Jorgos Papadakis also informed about his observations regarding the Western Thrace Turkish Minority’s problems. At the end of the meeting, in memory of the day President Mustafa Ali Cavus presented MEP Dr. Tatjana Zdanoka with a plaque. Later, the FEP Party delegation and EFA Head of Communications Jorgos Papadakis held banners in front of the European Union to draw attention to our demands for our rights arising from the Lausanne Treaty, the theft of late leader Dr. Sadik Ahmet’s car from the Party’s headquarters and the unjust closure of minority schools.
